Update: After consulting with the manufacturer, I received the missing pieces. I was able to cook a delicious meal of lemon pepper rice chicken. It was fun to cook with it and it was easy to use. I am enjoying the CR7.
Upon unboxing the Chef Robot, I was immediately struck by its solid build quality, making it feel like a premium product straight out of the package. Easy set up ... a lot to learn but easy to get started with the basics.
I think this is being mis-marketed as a tool to help you cook. In my opinion it is actually a precision kitchen tool made for people who love to cook and want a quality tool to make life easier and to never have to worry about burning, scorching, or breaking a sauce/dish. Like my sous vide and combi-oven, this allows me to have complete control over temperature, time, and stirring, making otherwise intricate recipes a breeze. Being able to set the Chef Robot for specific tasks and then diverting my attention to other cooking aspects mirrors the convenience of sous vide cooking. Examples I've used it for include ghee, teriyaki sauce, flawless rice, slow-cooked beef for birria tacos, Sunday red gravy, caramel, etc. It is a delicate and accurate kitchen tool that really makes my life easier.
There is a lot of focus on the "step-by-step" recipe function but I think that component could use some refining. It feels somewhat tedious and not as user-friendly as I'd hope. That being said, the real value isn’t in following recipes; it's in the precise and hands-off cooking that it offers. If they never solve the usability of the recipe bit I'd never miss it.
Cleaning can be slightly challenging, especially when dealing with certain stains at the bottom and around the blade. While the "self-clean" option works for most tasks, a deep clean occasionally becomes necessary.
Pricing is great. Cheaper than its competitors like the Thermomix but doesn't seem to be lacking anything for the price. Given my frequent usage and the quality of dishes I've been able to produce, I'd be willing to pay more -- I don't want to but it would be worth it.
So I'm at about three months at the time of this review. I use it almost daily. Great build quality, wonderful addition to my cooking hobby, and adds fun in the kitchen including a funny little song it plays to let you know the cook is done.
However, it's not without its imperfections. The app interface and customer service, likely due to its foreign origins, feel a bit outdated. I also have a few feature recommendations, like a timer that starts only when the pot heats up, a see-through pull-off lid for easy monitoring, and a redesigned cap with an oil drip hole for ease in making aiolis.
All said, now that I have it I wouldn't want to be without. It's a tool that not only simplifies cooking but also elevates the quality of the dishes. Highly recommended for anyone seeking precision, convenience, and a dash of fun in their culinary endeavors.
Very much good. Very much like. Super much recommend. :-)
To my eye, the old knife and the new knife are remarkably identical in shape and functionality. The carved piece at the front bottom of the knife is slightly longer on the new model but that's about all I can see that is outwardly different.
The case that comes with the new knife is far more modest than the old knife being that the old knife case was slightly large, was lined more nicely and had better compartments to hold the blades and the fork, but that modified design isn't a major concern for me.
The knife size, shape, grip, ease of use (etc.) is all as good with the new knife as with my trusty 20-year old model.
For the price, this is a nice version of an electric carving knife.
I can’t tell you how much I love to measure ingredients accurately and not have to guestimate each time. I love to experiment and be creative with my own recipes. Guided cooking isn’t an important feature for me personally, although impressive for what it does. If you are someone like me who likes to be creative in the kitchen, the Chefrobot app may not add the most value to you. However, If you're making foods for kids, it can play a bigger role, And this machine frees up your precious time; it never overcooks or undercooks, and I think the best thing it does is turn fresh cheap ingredients into gourmet meals with almost no effort (think: everything from lemon butter to Thai curries).
For sure, if you’re a novice cook and are looking for some great inspiration and convenience, this might be a really attractive feature for you!
I almost cried when my knife finally gave it up.
After researching, I decided to buy the Hamilton Beach electric knife because it had so many reviews that seemed positive. I am beginning to wonder if the reviews were not fake, because I can’t imagine thousands of people giving this knife a five star review. I’ve tried cutting homemade baked bread, and other items and found it was nothing like my beloved B & D.
Today, I tried cutting a black forest ham with the Hamilton Beach knife, and it was a total joke! You needed three people pressing down on the knife to get it to go through one slice of ham… It was pitiful!
My husband cut the ham with a regular serrated knife.
So it looks like after only a few months I’m going out searching for another electric knife. Black & Decker has changed their design somewhat, but I’m pretty sure that’s what I’m going to buy. If it lasts half as long as my first one, I’ll be pleased! At least I will get more use out of it than a few months like the current Hamilton Beach. I would not recommend buying this knife if you’re a person that loves to cook and uses it regularly.
