UPDATE: Received the new set and they look great. Time will tell how they hold up and I will update as needed.
I found this set during amzins prime day and pulled the trigger on buying them with the very big discount and I am so happy I did.
These clubs look fantastic, they feel great in your hands, and feel great when you swing them. We went to the range and gpt a super bucket (about 75 balls) and after a few tentative swings to see how it felt I started putting the hammer down and these clubs just performed great for me. I've never been a great or even good golfer, but I was hitting pretty straight and with decent distance. The balance and weight are on par with some of the top of the line (and price) of the big names put there. My friends are serious golfers and spend 1000's of dollars on their gear and they were taking swings with my clubs and they were all impressed. The color scheme on the bag and clubs is really nice looking. I didn't feel like an outsider loading up the clubs into the cart and driving the course. I will be filling out the bag with the clubs I need like a sand wedge and some of the heavier irons that did not come in the set. I will be buying the matching clubs for the set. If you are looking for a nice set, that is affordable, and durable I would recommend these.
Likewise said I'm just a guy who wants to go smack some balls with my friends and have no real aspirations in golf except to have fun and improve a little bit each time I go.
I wasn't crazy about the Driver and 3 wood that came with my set. Nothing was wrong with them, I just didn't care for their feel. These would be easy to replace however with used clubs at a low rate from Facebook Marketplace or Ebay. The hybrid from my set is very easy to hit, the irons are excellent for feel and forgiveness, and the wedges are very nice as well (though less backspin, but what do you expect). The putter is a little heavy, but I think it's worth keeping in the bag if you just need a set to play with.
My suggestions are to change out the Driver and 3 wood for a used driver, leave all the remaining clubs in the bag, and add a gap wedge. Add a lob wedge eventually if you're really serious about learning to use it (Wilson 52 for gap, 60 for lob are my recommendations).
Important to keep in mind: This set is $400 total. That's not even half the cost of a top brand iron set, and maybe just a little more than a brand new name brand driver. This set will show some nicks on it if you don't take lessons or have a rough swing. But those nicks are mostly cosmetic. I've never had any of these clubs break, bend, or have any sort of functional issue. You won't wow anyone with how they look. But they'll cover up a lot of sins with forgiveness, the grips are excellent, the bag is lightweight and top class, and they'll be good as long as you take care of them. I'm a little over 6 ft 1 and they clubs fit me.
I recommend these clubs for anyone who has never swung a club before and wants to learn, cannot generate a lot of power in their swing with accuracy, intends to play golf 24 times a year or less, or just needs something to get them started. Since I bought these clubs, I've upgraded to a used set I put together of Mizuno Irons, Odyssey Putter, Wilson Wedges, and Callaway Driver/Woods. But I still regularly go out and play rounds with these clubs and like them. Like I said, no regrets buying them and would recommend them. Definitely the best boxed set I've used so far.
To those complaining about durability; for some of you, I'd suggest only hitting golf balls with the clubs... Or maybe don't try your best Happy Gilmore impression. It's pretty obvious from some photos that it wasn't a golf ball or average golf swing that caused that much damage.
Consider what you're paying and what you're getting here. This is a BEGINNER'S SET! A driver alone is $400 and up from one of the "big 5" manufacturers, and that's not including a bag, set of irons, woods, and putter. Highly doubt many beginners are ready to drop $3k on a full set of PING clubs.
Like with any product, you're going to have some bad and some good.
All things considered this is a great set for the price.
Driver: Good - Isn't going to last forever. If you're pushing pro swing speeds, you'll probably just destroy this driver after a few rounds or less. Otherwise, forgiving, well balanced, durable enough for the average player.
3 wood/5h: Good - 5h does everything you need it to. 3 wood may have similar problems as driver.
Irons: Amazing! - Very sturdy, forgiving, great ball flight.
Putter: Good - Basic blade with ball alignment. Yes, the bottom gets scuffed. Sorry to burst your bubble, but clubs are going to show signs of wear when used...
Bag/club covers: Great - lightweight, plenty of storage. Better than anyone is willing to give credit for. Covers aren't anything special, but good enough and aesthetically pleasing.
