First time purchasing an air purifier…and I’m not disappointed! We are in a 870 sq ft apartment and in an area with heavy wildfires. It has done a wonderful job moving our indoor air into a safer category pretty quickly - like in 15-20 minutes at high fan speed. It has taken the bad air quality down by more than half; so very happy about that. Not at the optimal breathing level but well into the Green zone all day at fan speed two. I opted for the higher sq foot coverage option of 1,500 square ft.
Original review: Just purchased the SwitchBot Air Purifier and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. The Auto mode makes a ton of sense as the default, why I bought it even, but the levels for very good/good/moderate/bad air quality are astronomically high.
The app suggests that 0-50µg/m³ is 'very good', despite the EPA, WHO, CARB, and Indoor Air Hygeine Board all suggesting that anything above 12µg/m³ (and 5µg/m³ according to the EPA) is unhealthy air quality. For context, anything above 35µg/m³ can cause serious adverse effects for anyone with asthma or other respiratory problems. To suggest that up to 50µg/m³ is 'very good' is absolutely ludicrous.
I reached out to support and got hit with a boilerplate "According to the feedback from our R&D team, the current data classification of our air purifiers refers to the definitions of relevant products in the industry and our company's testing standards. Due to the differences in standards among various countries and regions, adjustments will be considered in accordance with the regulations of each region in the future."
This is frankly a load of nonsense, Air Quality is well understood and standards exist for a reason, even the Apple Home app when given raw µg/m³ numbers will rate anything above 12µg/m³ as below excellent. All they would have to do is allow a user to set a custom level for each category of air quality, I suggested this and they said they will pass it along to R&D, but frankly, I'm not optimistic, I'll be returning the air purifier which frankly is a shame because I do otherwise like the design and functionality.
Setup was super fast. It connected to the app right away, and I had it integrated with Alexa and Google Home within minutes. The real-time air quality monitoring is surprisingly accurate, and the RGB light gives a nice visual cue without being too bright. I’ve set it to auto mode and forget it’s even on, until I notice how much fresher the room feels.
It runs quietly, even on higher speeds, and the Pet Mode has been a game changer. I have two cats and this thing definitely helps keep dander and dust under control. Bonus: the wireless charging on top is perfect for my phone at night, and it actually works reliably without needing to fiddle with positioning.
If you're looking for something functional that also blends into your home without screaming "tech," this is it. Quiet, smart, and way more useful than I expected.
The built-in wireless charging pad is super convenient—I just set my phone down while relaxing, and it charges quickly with no issues. It worked perfectly with both my iPhone and my partner’s Android.
The smart features are a great bonus. I was able to connect it to Alexa and Google Home effortlessly, and controlling it via the app is very intuitive. Plus, the 10 RGB light options make it feel more like a cozy piece of furniture than a gadget.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a stylish and functional addition to their home!
The best part of this is the sleep mode and led lights. It is whisper quiet in sleep mode and the lights act very nicely as a nightlight. I have them set for "air quality" but there is a range of colors you may set to your personality. There is a "pet" mode which is a higher speed of fan and then you can individually select three different speeds. There is a "pre filter" that collects larger hair and things so the "true" filter is not clogged with them. Very easy access to change filter too but availability in the future may be the downfall.
Like I said, I use either the native apps for my items or Home Kit to control them. The HK functionality is very limited. You can turn it on or off and change air speed. It would be nice is SB would put in the control of leds but, its nice to be able to say "siri, ..." and get the fan to go to a specific speed. The SB app- very good and easy to use. I have already set a few timers. This runs 24/7 so far. I have set "schedules" (their words) for this already. 1st is sleep and that turns on around 9 when my wife usually heads to bed. I have it switch to auto around 5 am to start filtering to the needs air and around noon it moved to pet as my dogs are usually alone by that time and will start playing with toys, etc and stir up dander and dust. So far after a few days, there is less dust and the air is cleaner.
Set up is easy. Mostly it came preinstalled. Looks so beautiful. Doubles as a table, not an eyesore. So I kept it in the living room, next to our seating area. Mobile wireless charging works flawlessly. I wish the cable it came with is a bit longer. I have to use an extension.
Multi-color light indicates the status of air purification. When we are having a barbecue, there is a lot of smoke, and air purification kicks in automatically, cleaned quickly and quietly.
Overall I love this product and highly recommend it to any prospective buyer.
One of my favorite features is the smart ambient light. It automatically changes color based on the air quality, providing a clear and intuitive way to monitor indoor air conditions. This is a great touch, especially in an office or bedroom where you want a quick visual indicator of air quality.
Another brilliant feature is that the ambient light automatically turns off when the room lights are off, making it ideal for nighttime use. There’s no annoying glare when sleeping, yet it continues to purify the air quietly and efficiently.
Overall, this is a smart, compact, and highly effective air purifier, perfect for small rooms. If you’re looking for a sleek and functional purifier with thoughtful features, this is an excellent choice!
The unit itself provides good air purification so far. On auto, it turns on when it detects elevated levels of PM2.5. Fan speeds go from 1 to 3, and from quiet to less quiet. At the highest level, the sound is noticeable but not obtrusive. You can hear it in the video I’m including, but that’s having the phone right next to the purifier with the air blowing onto the mic. That’s as loud as it gets (and it’s definitely not that loud further away.)
The app provides lots of information - including filter life. Website says filter replacements should happen every 6-12 months, so we’ll see how filter life goes. I also like that I can control the air purifier along with the rest of my house. I’ll set it to turn on auto before I get home and off when I’m not there. I can also have it coordinate with some of my other Switchbot devices, and am looking forward to having both clean and not-dry air (with my humidifier.)
I can’t not mention the light too. Love that I can get it to coordinate with my light strip. I would love to have the same color selection as the light strip, but what it offers is fine (and my favorite orange color is one of the choices.) Lastly, my version with the table comes with a wireless charging spot on the table - a nice, if extra, feature.
The SwitchBot Air Purifier impresses with its ability to cover up to 1800 ft², making it ideal for large spaces. Its H13 HEPA filter tackles pet dander, allergens, and pollutants, while the washable pre-filter ensures long-term cost efficiency. Add in 10 RGB light colors, aromatherapy compatibility, and wireless charging, and you’ve got a device that’s as versatile as it is effective. The smart home integration with Alexa, Google Home, and Siri adds another layer of convenience.
Complementing this is the SwitchBot Meter Pro CO2 Monitor, a 6-in-1 powerhouse that tracks CO2 levels, humidity, and temperature. Its large, easy-to-read display keeps critical air quality information at your fingertips, while the Bluetooth connectivity and 2-year data storage make tracking trends effortless. The built-in CO2 alarm is a standout feature, giving you peace of mind in ensuring your home remains safe and healthy.
When paired, these devices provide a comprehensive air quality management system. The SwitchBot Air Purifier cleans the air, while the Meter Pro CO2 Monitor ensures it’s not just clean, but also safe to breathe. Together, they redefine indoor air quality, making them a must-have for modern, health-conscious homes.
