This was purchased as a raffle item for our holiday event to raise money we donated to The Salvation Army. HUGE HIT, although I will say, not very many people knew exactly what they’re capable of. TBH i didnt either until I read about them, thought they were awesome, and had to get them! People were blown away - I should be hustling Ray Bans instead of fuel! Great raffle item, super popular, and the winner has already messaged me to say she LOVES THEM!

I’m not really sure what I was really expecting with these. But. I do like them quite a bit. I got the large matte black with transition lenses. I maybe should have went with the regular or standard size just for my face shape. However, they are genuinely good. Picture, video, and audio quality are all crystal clear. My only complaint, is I have very sensitive eyes. So I like having sunglasses when I’m outside. So, the transitions don’t get as dark as I’d like for them to get, like a regular pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses. 9/10 for me.

It’s a great product for what it is I just isn’t for me. I’m not taking away any stars because it does exactly what it’s designed to do and it does it really well, audio quality is great as well as photo and video quality. But after using for a few days I just cannot find a use for it in my life. I believe this is a great product for anyone in the content creation business which while I am (kinda) it’s just not something I can justify. This product though it amazing I recommend it to anyone.

This is a fun set of glasses! They are comfortable and clear, they fit great! They are polarized so it definitely helps in the sun.

I’m still learning to use them. The app is free and there are so many functions. You can ask them what you are looking at and it will describe it. You can take pictures, make video, listen to music, it will read texts out loud for you so you don’t have to pull your phone out of your pocket. Definitely helpful while driving, riding a quad or a horse. I’m sure there’s still a ton of things it does but for right now, those are enough for me. The battery life leaves a bit to be desired. If you’re listening to music and stuff on loud, the battery will get ate up pretty fast. I need to figure out the volume thing because a text chime right in your ear can get super loud!

Very good shades. Impressed with the video recording option, it’s clear and no camera shake. I would consider the Gen2 since the battery is only 4 hours. I did a 1hr bike ride with 3 recordings and had the music on. It drained to 29%. I would recommend if you use other devices for music and limit your recordings.

For someone who’s older and not hip to new age tech and AI I decided to order a pair of these and try them out. They're very user friendly. The quality of the camera is amazing, it translates easily with just a push of a couple buttons. It only has a handful of languages, but they are common languages to Americans.
They also block the sun really well as most all Ray-Bans do. They don’t look or feel much different than normal sunglasses. Their weight isn’t even noticeable when wearing. They fit nicely and they look like the classics.
I have to mention the Meta App. It’s super easy to use and the fun and useful things with it are so great! Really! You can actually play around with photos and make animations and videos!

So at any rate, these glasses only cost a hundred bucks or so more than the non-AI ones. I 100% recommend buying a pair of these.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Smart Glasses — Totally Worth It!
I’m genuinely impressed with the Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer (Gen 1) glasses. The build quality feels premium, just like you’d expect from Ray-Ban, and the matte black finish looks super clean and modern. The camera is surprisingly sharp for a pair of glasses — photos and videos come out clear and stable, making it great for capturing moments on the go without pulling out my phone.
The audio is another huge plus. Music, podcasts, and calls sound crisp, and people on the other end can hear me clearly even when I’m outside. The Meta AI features are a nice bonus too — asking for directions or quick info hands-free is incredibly convenient.
Battery life holds up well for daily use, and the glasses stay comfortable even after wearing them for long periods. Overall, these smart glasses blend style, tech, and practicality perfectly. If you’re on the fence, go for it — you won’t regret it!

What I liked: the matte black color is sick, easy to pair with your phone using the meta app. The glasses are very intuitive. Great with translation. I was able to use them in Puerto Rico. I sent the first pair back because they were too small. The larger ones for me perfectly.

The packaging and unboxing are a premium feel
And experience. You feel like you’re getting what you’re paying for.

What could be better: the transition lenses do not get dark enough. I ended up exchanging these for the clear lenses and purchased the clip on shades. It provides more versatility. I now have black, blue, red, purple and pink.

I would recommend these to anyone in the market for smart glasses. Great introduction to the craze. META is always updating so your glasses will have the latest features.

Honestly love these way more than I thought I would. Was on the fence to purchase as I wear prescription lenses and ended up pulling the trigger.

The quality of the glasses themselves are very strong, well made, not overly heavy for all that you are getting. They are comfortable to wear long term and fit as described.

The camera quality is better than I was expecting from these and the microphones pick-up what you’d want and can block what you don’t. Use these inside my motorcycle helmet with the visor up and it recorded my stereo and bike exhaust but blocked out the wind which was great.

Have played around with the other functions as well such as the live translate which was a tad slower than I would want if traveling out of country but worked well enough for minimal use.

Overall great product and use almost daily

Catch video from POV while still using hands. (Playing with grandkids, walking a job site, taking videos while riding anything)

Texting while driving! Huge benefit for me with sales and project updates. Say who you want to text, and when done, she reads it back.

    Snap hands-free pics

Take a call and continue working with your hands. Yes, I realize earbuds will do the same, but withing an hour of having them in, they hurt. My glasses do not bother me.

Set reminders- she will reminds at specified times

    -
Battery only last roughly 6 hours, less if you are listening to music. However they charge in about 20 mins

Notifying you of text and reading them while you are talking to someone, like a cashier or customer. Customer was an easy fix as you can ask meta to pause for a specified amount of time.

Transitioning lenses are not that dark, but I have grown accustomed to them and its worth the trade off to see indoors

Ok so I got mines from my eye doctor and used my medical for it. But I got the medium and did not want my hubby to streatch my pair. I got him the larger size, it fits perfect for him and does not look awkward on him.
For use, if we are listening to music consistently or watching something while using the batteries will not last too long. The battery on the case although lasts a long time. But I will charge the case at the end of the day.
BUT on vacation, we wore it all day. We did NOT play music while on vacation and used it mostly for catching candids of the kids and taking videos on rides! It lasted the whole time and did not die.
I took a few hotel tour videos with this and the QUALITY was great.
Because we have small children we are not constantly on our phones and being able to take a picture on the fly is such a great thing to have and we are able to catch the moments we wouldnt be able to if we had to pull out our phones.
This is why we think we believe this is a good buy.

I bought these used with minor scratches, no problem because I got them to put prescription lenses in. After my annual eye test (my vision thankfully has been stable this year for a change, so the prescription was the same) I gave them to the staff to send off for lenses after signing a waiver that they would not be responsible for any damage to my frames. When I picked them up, my doctor said the company declined to fit the lenses, so he did it himself. My new lenses are progressive, transition, and coated, but in the car they won’t darken much, if at all, because the car’s glass absorbs UV, so I bought aftermarket clip-on, flip-up sunglasses for my Wayfarers.

Back home the first thing I did was charge them. Then I downloaded the app, turned them on, put them on, and ran through the instructions. They were very clear and easy to follow.

As eyeglasses, I like the fit and the big lenses. I’m not crazy about the looks, but I didn’t buy them for how they look to others, and to the minor extent that I care, the Wayfarer style is classic.

As smart glasses, I like how easy it was to pair Bluetooth with my i14. The audio quality is excellent, as far as I can tell with my minor old age hearing loss, and open ear lets me hear the outside world. I’m not so good with the volume control yet, so I do that on my phone, but the audio pause/resume feature is useful. The glasses give an audio cue when I put them on, and another very shortly after when Bluetooth is active. The only times I’ve used the camera were when I fat-fingered the button by mistake, but the photos looked okay before I deleted them on my phone. I like the way the glasses answer the phone and handle texts, hands-free and more convenient than my Fitbit Sense 2, great when driving. I haven’t tried talking to “Hey, Meta” much, but it’s a very interesting feature.

My main disappointment is the short battery life, in hindsight not surprising with such small batteries. Sometimes I carry my old glasses in my shirt pocket so I can switch while I charge these. The app, which by the way should stay active when wearing these glasses, displays battery %. Charging in the case requires some jiggling to make contact. The charging case is not sold separately. I bought an aftermarket charger that’s easier to use, seems faster, and lets me charge in more than one place: case in the car, new charger in the bedroom. Oh, before I forget again, the glasses give an audio low battery warning at 15% and again at 5%. After charging, when I put them on, they give an audio report, 100% battery.

This review page suggests that I should mention value for money. I consider this a positive, with audio better than in-ear plugs or pods, still camera and video camera, phone and text answering, access to AI, and stylish sunglasses for much less than the total price of buying them all separately.

One thing I try to remember when I write a review, if I had it to do over again knowing what I know now, would I still buy it? Yes!

Edited to add: Yesterday I started a timer when I put on the glasses. I didn't use the audio much, maybe half an hour or so in total, and the 15% bat warning came at 5 hours and 45 minutes, better than I expected. I will time it with full time audio music and report. The aftermarket charger took them back to 100% in 57 minutes. I haven't timed the charging case yet, but will add that when I do.

Updated edit: After several charges using each, although not precisely timed, the case and the aftermarket charger take substantially the same amount of time to charge the Wayfarers to 100%. The aftermarket charger has a light on full-time when it’s holding the glasses, red for charging and green for fully charged. The case’s light turns on only briefly upon opening or closing the case. Rather than interrupting the charging process to check battery status, especially when charging with the case, I use the app to get the current battery percentage.

I recently purchased two pairs of Ray-Ban Meta glasses—one with transition lenses and one with polarized lenses—and they’ve been a game changer for my daily life and content creation. Here’s a breakdown of my experience with both pairs and their features:

    What I Loved

    • Hands-Free Content Creation: These glasses have made it incredibly easy to record high-quality videos while keeping my hands free. As a content creator, I love giving my audience a first-person view of what I’m doing, and the ease of snapping photos or shooting videos on the go is unmatched.
    • Stylish and Discreet Design: The Wayfarer style is a timeless classic, and over 99% of people won’t even realize these are smart glasses. I get all the benefits of advanced tech without sacrificing style.
    • Polarized Lens Quality: The clarity of the polarized lenses is unreal. They block out the sun beautifully, especially in Florida’s intense sunlight, and make driving feel sharper and more vibrant.
    • Immersive Sound Quality: Listening to music and taking calls without earbuds is an incredible experience. The sound is immersive, theater-like, and subtle enough that people nearby won’t hear it. I even had a crystal-clear call with my dad, and he had no idea I was using glasses for audio!

    The Cons

    • Transition Lenses Fall Short Outdoors: While they’re great indoors, the transition lenses don’t adapt quickly enough to the Florida sun and don’t block out glare as effectively as polarized lenses. If you need strong sun protection, go for the polarized option.
    • “Hey Meta” Feature is a Letdown: This was the biggest disappointment. The voice assistant is unreliable and drains the battery rapidly. For example, when I asked it to delete a video, it looped endlessly without actually doing it. It also struggled with recognizing objects—I asked about a man-made mountain, and it gave me a completely inaccurate answer. I’ve since turned this feature off.
    • Battery Life with “Hey Meta”: With the assistant on, the battery drained by 10% for a 3-minute video. Turning it off drastically improved performance—only 1% battery drain for the same recording length. If you want the glasses to last all day, keep “Hey Meta” off.
    • Fit Needed Adjustments: Out of the box, the glasses were slightly heavy and slid down my nose. Adding nose pads resolved the issue and made them much more comfortable for extended wear.

    Overall Thoughts

These glasses excel in hands-free convenience, exceptional call quality, and immersive sound, all wrapped in a stylish, discreet design. While the “Hey Meta” feature fell short and the battery life could be better with it enabled, turning it off made a world of difference.

If you’re looking for stylish smart glasses that deliver high-quality content creation and audio, I highly recommend these—especially the polarized lenses. They’ve exceeded my expectations in so many ways and are now a daily essential for me!

First of all I will say I think they cost too much. That said they are made of high-quality materials they look fantastic and they protect from the sun. I used my pair as eyeglasses with transition lenses and I couldn't be happier however, considered this before buying if you plan to use these as headphones for listening to music you will be in for a treat as the speakers are very high-quality and you're still able to hear your surroundings while listening to music making them great bicycling or even those who use a wheelchair can still be aware of their surroundings while listening to soft music That said my head is very big and the speakers do not aim directly in my ears so I need to find some way of that section over my ears so that I can hear the music a little better will benefit from these glasses. Also the firmware has been updated several times recently you are now able to take three minute videos instead of one minute you're also able to take photos Which is the push of a button it also includes an AI assistant that helps you with almost anything you need to ask. For example it uses the cameras built into the frames to tell you what you are looking at simply say, hey Metta what am I looking at and it will tell you what you're looking at it will also translate any foreign language you are looking at into English for example restaurant menus that are written in other languages aside from English I have not used this feature but I am told that this is one of the functions built-in. It will also alert you when a phone call or message comes in it will open and close certain apps for you and play and music very similar to Alexa and Siri. I am hoping they will give us longer battery time in the near future because the battery leaves a lot to be desired for example I only wore them for a few hours listening to soft music and I only had 17% battery power left when I was done I could imagine that would be even lower the video camera or Took Photos. I chose the matte finish instead of the shiny which I regret but everyone tells me it looks great I like the shiny glasses myself comes with a great case that also charges the glasses on the go, the glasses case has a built-in battery so when your glasses are running on low energy you can just pop them back in a case for a quick charge. Don't forget to charge your case itself at night. Other than that I still have lots to learn for example how to clean them I don't want to ruin the mat finish with harsh cleaners such as optical sprays which are made of ammonia and I doubt that would be good for the frames . So I recommend these if you have a normal sized head I would say yes. They come in different sizes I have the largest size and I still have trouble hearing the music. I do recommend them and I am satisfied

I put out a video on YouTube reviewing these, here is my written analysis.

I recently had the opportunity to test out the Meta Smart Glasses for three months, and I have to say, it's a really cool product. While the hardware has significantly improved from previous versions and other products in the past, there are still some questions that need to be answered. One of the biggest concerns is privacy, as these glasses have the capability to record both visuals and auditory inputs. At a price point of $299, it's comparable to many modern-day sunglasses, but is it worth giving up your privacy for?

    Key Takeaways
    • The Meta Smart Glasses have improved hardware but raise concerns about privacy.
    • The glasses have an IPX4 water-resistant rating but have a 60-second record limit.
    • Only having vertical video is a bit of a downside for long form creators.
    • POV footage for sports and driving is a unique and enjoyable feature of the Meta Smart Glasses.
    • The Speakers are not amazing but they are good enough and reach an audio level where they truly feel next generation finally for smart glasses.

    Comparative Analysis
After using the Meta Smart Glasses for over a month, I have compared them to other products I have tried in the past, such as the Snapchat specs and the previous RayBan stories. The hardware of the Meta Smart Glasses has significantly improved from previous versions and other products. However, this product raises more questions than it answers in some ways.
One of the biggest topics of contention is privacy. The light that pulses on the top right is a little more visible now and it's brighter and bigger in general. However, in my opinion, it should have been red, which means recording. The current light is still small enough where no one really notices it. While in theory, someone should maybe notice it, it's such a new technology and concept that they're not going to just simply notice it.
Another downside is the 60-second record limit. There are many times when I was recording interactions or photographing cars, and I would honestly just forget that I was recording sometimes. The video ending noise can be distracting in a conversation, where you're in a train of thought, and then you hear that noise. There should theoretically be no record limit in here, unless it's related to overheating.

    Price and Value
Looking at the price of these, they are actually not bad at all. They are comparable to a lot of modern-day sunglasses. Given that you get this much amount of tech in here, the price is quite reasonable and I suspect they will have regular sales this holiday season to push a lot of product

    Design and Features
    IPX4 Rating and Water Resistance
The Meta smart glasses have an IPX4 rating, making them water-resistant. This means that the glasses can withstand sweat and rain, making them suitable for outdoor activities. However, it is important to note that the capacitive touch on the side of the glasses can be affected if water droplets fall on it, which can interfere with music or other functions.

    Capacitive Touch Sensitivity:
The Meta smart glasses have capacitive touch sensitivity, which allows users to interact with the glasses through touch. The controls are very intuitive and work quite well with good responsiveness.

    Transition Lenses Option:
The Meta smart glasses come with an option for transition lenses, which can be very practical during the winter months when there is less daylight. The transition lenses can turn dark when exposed to sunlight and then turn back to clear when sunlight is no longer present. This feature is especially useful for those who want to use the glasses for both indoor and outdoor activities.
In terms of pricing, the Meta smart glasses are reasonably priced at $299, which is comparable to other modern-day sunglasses. The transition lens version is slightly more expensive. However, given the amount of technology packed into these glasses, the price is quite reasonable.
Additionally, all the types of variations have 32 GB of storage.

    Public Awareness
Another concern I have is the public's awareness of the recording capabilities of the Meta Smart Glasses. While Meta has made efforts to increase awareness of the recording feature, it's still not enough. Many people are still unaware that the glasses can record, and this raises concerns about privacy. It's important that people are aware that they may be recorded when interacting with someone wearing these glasses.
Overall, I believe that Meta needs to do more to increase public awareness of the recording capabilities of the glasses and make the recording indicator more visible. While the glasses are a great product, it's important that people's privacy is respected, and that they are aware of when they are being recorded.

    Functionality Limitations
    60-Second Record Limit
One of the major limitations of the Meta Smart Glasses is the 60-second record limit. While the glasses offer 32 GB of storage, the record limit can be a hindrance for those who want to record longer videos. During my testing, I found myself forgetting that I was recording, and the glasses would stop recording after 60 seconds. This can be frustrating, especially when recording interactions or events that last longer than a minute.
