I'm glad to say that this passed the Dad (or Grandpa) test VERY well. Setting it up took only moments, but using the fan is where it really shines. Obviously, grandparents want easy over all else, and he took to his remote the moment he got it and my mom (aka Grandma) has secretly told me she's gotten zero complaints lately about the temperature in the house.
Pros:
1. Very well built, feel high quality
2. The functionality of cooling is great now, and when heat is needed, we already ready for that too
3. It moves plenty of air in both cooling and heating mode
4. The remote is the game changer that ties everything together
5. Looks good, and doesn't weigh as much as it looks
6. Customizable functionality, such as switching between heating, cooling, oscillating, air direction, etc. is high-end
7. Installation was very easy, and the directions were simple and well-documented
Cons:
1. Almost ridiculously expensive
As a cooler, it's quiet on low speeds, feels gentle yet effective. The “natural breeze” mode is my favorite—feels more like real wind than a fixed blast. But when I crank it up (or use as heater at higher modes), I do hear a whine, and it can get a bit loud. Also, the price is steep for what it is, especially since there’s no app control. Some settings you can’t change from the unit itself remote is essential. Overall, I’m happy with it. It’s versatile, good build, and useful year round. Just be ready for a learning curve and occasional noise on high.
1. I recommend this Shark-TurboBlade Cool + Heat TH202-Charcoal.
2. The current price of ~$400 is a bit high.
LIKES:
- The configuration does make it quite versatile in adapting to the immediate environment. Quite useful and worth the effort.
- Well built and good quality, which is as expected from Shark.
- Heat included with the fan is perfect, especially for this time of year. The days still get hot, but the nights and mornings cool off. This prevents adjusting the thermostat which affects the entire house. This allows for a localized solution.
- Remote control.
- 10 fan speeds and 3 heat modes allows for good customization.
DISLIKES:
- Compared to some blade designs, this is less expensive, however, I still think that ~400 is overpriced.
On the heat side it can be set on any of the 10 speeds, or you can set it to achieve and maintain a particular temperature (much like the automatic climate control in a car). And it has a night-time speed that slows everything down a bit, but also dims the unit's (primarily blue) display. All can be run from the included remote.
And as amazing as the unit itself is, assembly might be even better. It comes in a large-ish box, but putting it together takes no more than a couple of minutes - basically snapping the handful of pieces together - and requires ZERO TOOLS!!
This fan is very effective at what it does -- both heating and cooling. And it is portable. I have mine right now in the bedroom, but it will soon find itself in our home gym to help move some air to cool things down while working out. And, with the Shark name behind it you know it should be high quality. Great find. I love it!
This thing can rotate from 45 degrees of rotation to 180 degrees of rotation. The blades themselves also can be rotated up to 90 degrees in either direction from "neutral". This thing is beefy, but feels amazing, the cool air coming out of the blades is a nice wide swath, yet focused. Personally the wife and I use it at the foot of the bed as we're both hot sleepers and this does better than any fan; ceiling or otherwise that we've ever used!
Also have to rave on the construction of it, it feels really well made, mostly out of some sort of metal or plastic that feels like metal, and the rose gold around the heater? *Chef's kiss*
Cons: Heat will only come out of the small middle part and cool only comes out of the blades.
Seriously, like I understand why it does that but I feel like a little more effort should have been put into that aspect at this price point, you're talking 3-400$ fan I would expect a little better in this area. I want heat to come out of the entire thing, blades included and I want the cool air to come out of the center too!
I don't mind having to manually change it between heating and cooling as it's not like that's something you'' be doing every day.
Oh and putting this together! That's actually a huge plus, it came in a giant box with the base, the unit, the heater and "neck" and the blades all separate. However the included instructions made it sooooo easy to put together I would let a child do it without supervision. (Don't do that, but you get the point)
This Shark fan is pretty nice. I have a home that has horrible insulation. No matter what I do, every room is cold or so hot. Running the whole house furnace/AC uses so much energy. The fan was easy to set up about 5 or so mins, pretty self explanatory. I carried it upstairs and it has some heft to it. Plugged it in, put the batteries in the remote and turned it on.
The cold/cool air flow on 10 max speed, which is the highest, isn't all that. It does move air, but I feel that it should be turbo, blow me away feeling. It did blow cool air which was much appreciated in my small warm bathroom. It was the same on warm/hot at 10, speed wasn't all that. The warm/hot air flow felt nice. The fan feels that it warmed up my room better than cooling it off. But I am not giving this a fair chance and expecting AC quality cool, so that's on me. Its more like a table fan but super super nicer.
The main thing I was impressed with is the remote being magnet to the stand. That is pretty nifty and customer user appreciated.
Assemble is a breeze (pun intended), and it takes about 5 minutes. The base snaps in to the main part of the fan, and then the blades snap in place (in two areas). The fan has a remote and allows you to control your fan/heater from across the room, but I did have to read the manual to understand what each button meant (just to be sure). The system switches from fan to heat with the toggle of a button on the main base of the unit.
The best part of this fan? The airflow can be adjusted in any direction you need! Not only do you have the option to rotate both blades into a vertical or horizontal orientation, but you're then able to adjust the two bladeless airflow arms to rotate up and down or side to side (depending on the orientation you are in). It's BRILLIANT! I you need a wider area covered, horizontal is FANTASTIC! If you're looking for something more sleek and isolated to a specific area, then the vertical orientation is perfect.
The airflow output is amazing, and it isn't one of those super loud fans that distracts everyone in the room. It's been fantastic for these summer days in Florida, but I've already used the heat feature when I got cold when lounging on the couch the other day. It was INCREDIBLY cozy and kept me warm as I lounged on the couch and (eventually) took a well-deserved nap. I can't wait to utilize the heating feature more during the winter months!
The fact that this unit can not only keep you cool but ALSO keep you warm is BRILLIANT! I've needed something like this in our home for years, and the fact that I won't have to worry about those pesky fan blades getting caked with dust and having to completely disassemble to clean them is a HUGE bonus!
Shark, you've done it again (although I'm not at all surprised). This is THE fan/heater you need for the years to come, and it's TOTALLY worth the investment! The warranty is great, but the quality build and effectiveness of the fan/heater itself is even BETTER! I'm completely in love with this one, y'all. Treat yo' self, today!
It's quiet enough to not annoy me when I'm trying to sleep. The air delivery is great and the cooling is amazing. I love that you can rotate it around to have air blowing in two directions. And it looks nice.
The design is equally impressive. It’s sleek, modern, and so smartly engineered. The 90-degree twist and pivoting blades make it ultra-flexible—you can fine-tune the direction like a pro. We’ve moved it from the living room to the bedroom to the kitchen… it’s earned VIP status in every space.
Yes, it’s on the pricier side—but the performance backs it up. You’re not just buying a fan; you’re upgrading your entire idea of what air circulation can be.
If you’re tired of underwhelming fans that sound like jet engines and barely shift the air, do yourself a favor and go for this one. It’s worth every penny.
the noise doesn't bother me at all i find it soothing and honestly it's very quiet unless it's on full blast (in my head full blast = some form of noise so I expect that 🤷🏽♀️ if I don't want to hear my upstairs neighbors I turn it up all the way) I sleep with it on level 4 right along my bed and it keeps the blankets cool and regulates the temperature and it's very quiet. Which truly has saved me right now in the summer since I sleep very hot. It's the perfect size and I love the design. When I don't have it up against my bed horizontally, I have it in my far corner vertically oscillating to cool the room and its very inconspicuous and not an eyesore like normal fans.
The fan is in the base and blows the air up the tube and it comes out the blades. Air flow is good. It's about 15 feet away from me on setting 5 and its very comfortable.
I like that you can set the blades either horizontal or vertically and that you can adjust the blades independently. Honestly, one of the biggest reasons I chose this fan is because I have 2 long hair cats and live where it can get very hot. This fan makes it super easy to have one blade pointed downwards to give the cats a breeze (which they like very much) while having the other blade blowing horizontal or up at people level.
I also like very much that it has 3 oscillation settings. Of course you can have it stationary but you have the option for it to oscilate 45 degrees, 90 degrees or to do a complete 180 in either horizonal or vertical orientation. The blades are 2 feet and 7.5 inches wide so when oscilating on a horizontal orientation, make suere there's enough room for them to spin freely and wont knock anything over.
The Breezeboost setting definitely puts out alot more air if you need it but at the cost of it being quite a bit louder.
I feel like the $250 price tag is a bit high but I bought it obviously and have no regrets.
The Dove white color is gorgeous and modern it looks clean and high end. The Air Blanket feature is AMAZING. It creates this smooth, even airflow that runs over the whole bed without being harsh. Probably the main reason we got this. Perfect for the end of the bed. Even on HI, it’s super quiet in the sense that there is no helicopter effect from traditional fan blades, it has this low airplane hum on level 5 and under that’s oddly soothing and not overpowering at all. I think it actually sounds cool. On the highest and higher settings one could say the sound is like a turbo jet. As people who need white noise or background noise to sleep, none of this was an issue for us. My video has the sound of the fan on level 10, the highest.
The airflow is super customizable, you can rotate the blades multiple ways, literally any angle, and the independent wings on the sides let you direct air exactly where you want it. Total room circulation. Total comfort. I can point one fan at the floor and one at the ceiling, I can point one fan to the left of the room and one to the right, lots of possibilities. And it can oscillate for all these options creating even more circulation.
For us this was worth the money. Powerful, quiet, smart, and stylish. I’d also like to say the fan is never more than about 15 feet away from us. It’s usually right at the end of the bed for the air blanket. I know some people have bigger homes than others and I feel like it’s important to add our proximity to the fan for the experience we are getting.
